bahraini—danish

The cylindrical sides of the bahraini—danish frame create a bold figure with charming corners.

The corners are simply made from straight-cut sides meeting at a 90-degree angle, rough-cut but softened by the wood; a terracotta-colored pear, and a sandy European cherry. Six slim steel pins hold in place a mirror, adding to the overall intertwining of strong and tender.

The profile is shaped almost like a P (in section) and straight on it looks entirely made out of four wooden rods sitting a couple of centimeters from the wall. When the rods meet at a corner, two pieces are not exactly joined, they are straight cut creating a groove where straight angles and curves meet. A small shadow sits between the two cylinders that are almost touching.

The limited edition mirror serves as a passe-partout with small round cutouts containing Bahraini coins. Beyond their miniature iconography and rich cultural value, the coins also tell tales that reflect the hands of the designers who brought them in front of you.

The framed content is front-mounted and held in place by cylinders-shaped steel pins. The steel pins sit two and two, but only on three out of four sides. Quirky. As you can tell from this description this frame is different from the usual. It's curved but straight, hard but soft, bold but gentle.
