About

Founded in 2024, Cassetta develops frames through collaborations with architects, designers, and artists. Working between Copenhagen and international contexts, the practice approaches framing as a spatial and tactile discipline, bringing together craft, history, and contemporary design.

This spring we are proud to present a new series of frames by Peter Wiesmann, featuring a limited edition of photographs by Matthieu Lavanchy. The new works evoke the poetics of everyday scenes. The frames draw attention to gestures of placement: hung on the wall, worn around the neck, or resting on a desk, revealing their reverse. Photography and frame exist as objects among objects, thoughtfully composed as a bibelot of small treasures.

The word cassetta translates quite simply to cassette; a box that is used to protect and carry. We appreciate that the word on one hand speaks to the purely functional quality and on the other this feeling that we are just about to begin an anecdote.

Production takes place in close collaboration with material specialists in Denmark and Germany, combining traditional craft techniques with a contemporary approach, with a focus on precision, material integrity, and longevity.

Last year we launched our collaborations with BORCH Editions – a Tabernacle Frame by Mentze Ottenstein for a series of Alexander Tovborg etchings. In 2024 we developed four signature frames with corresponding limited editions by Mentze Ottenstein, Anne Dorthe Vester, and bahraini—danish.

Upcoming series will launch with a vernissage, so remember to sign up for our newsletter in the footer or follow us on Instragram @cassetta.dk
